Job Description

Title: Mechanical Engineer

Location: Seattle, WA (Onsite)

Duration: 12 months (Contract)

We’re seeking a highly skilled Mechanical/Product Design Engineer to join a team developing cutting-edge mixed reality input devices. The ideal candidate excels in a hands-on environment and is passionate about creating and refining functional prototypes for next-generation consumer electronics.

You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to explore new interaction paradigms, test early ideas, and drive concept-to-prototype development.

Top 3 Must-Have Hard Skills:

CAD Proficiency (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino)

Hands-on Rapid Prototyping (3D printing, CNC, molding, casting, electromechanical integration)

Consumer Electronics Product Development experience

Nice to Have Skills:

Experience with cross-functional collaboration

Background in soft goods development or prototyping

Exposure to VR/MR products

Worked with external manufacturing vendors

Knowledge of Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or full-stack electromechanical prototyping

Key Responsibilities:

Design and build functional prototypes based on engineering, UX, and industrial design requirements

Use CAD and fabrication techniques to develop and communicate mechanical concepts

Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate PCBs and sensors into mechanical systems

Manage multiple streams of work independently with minimal supervision

Leverage both internal and external vendors to execute builds at various levels of fidelity

Investigate mechanical challenges, iterate on solutions, and contribute to broader product development decisions

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)

3+ years in a multidisciplinary hands-on engineering role in consumer hardware

Demonstrated ability to manage independent design and prototyping tasks end-to-end

Experience executing projects involving mechanical, electrical, and firmware components

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
