Job Description

The Chemical Plant Operator is responsible for taking daily inventory, unloading, and loading raw materials and finished goods, as well as helping in any of the other operations departments. Chemical Operators are also responsible for using and maintaining equipment used to blend chemicals. Key skills include the ability to lift up to 75 lbs, frequent walking to complete inventory, checking for leaks, and opening/closing storage tanks. Operators must run skid loaders and forklifts and wear a respirator when unloading Acetic acid, Formic acid, and Aqua Ammonia. They must tolerate temperature extremes up to 110°F and work outside in all weather conditions. The role requires a high school diploma, 1 to 2 years of chemical plant experience preferred but not required, computer skills, safety-oriented work habits, attention to detail, and good analytical abilities. Responsibilities include unloading raw materials, operating production equipment, reading charts and meters, collecting and labeling samples, preparing containers for transport, labeling packaged materials, troubleshooting equipment, ensuring documentation quality, communicating work activities, operating pumps and valves, completing daily batches, following safety and environmental procedures, completing daily inventory, working in other operation areas including maintenance, maintaining a clean and safe environment, passing a pulmonary function test, and wearing a respiratory mask. Other duties as assigned.
