We are looking for a dynamic HR professional to join our Amazon Web Services (AWS) as the global HR leader for our Global Startup organization within AWS Global Sales (AGS).

In this position, you will help your business leaders to develop and execute HR strategies that enable business priorities and foster the employee experience. It requires strong leadership and team collaboration across global leadership teams, as well as broader projects and HR initiatives. We are looking for a seasoned professional who will partner with business leaders on strategic people initiatives, has the ability to implement and optimize HR programs and processes, as well as identify and drive appropriate solutions aligned with labor relations, HR policies, processes.

We are looking for a Human Resources leader who has the ability to diagnose issues and influence long term solutions and outcomes. You must be able to collaborate across groups, influence all levels of the organization. You should be comfortable rolling up your sleeves and engaging on a hands-on basis with individuals and teams as well as operating strategically with leadership teams. You will need strong business acumen, executive coaching skills, excellent communications skills, strategic thinking, and planning/project management skills. You must be able to balance competing priorities and conflicting opinions, and facilitate the best decisions for employees and the business in an environment of ambiguity and rapid change.

Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will:
  1. Develop and implement people plans and solutions in order to achieve people initiatives and deliver results. This includes serving as a critical champion of programs that help to export talent to the broader AWS organization from customer teams.
  2. Partner with senior leaders and their leadership teams to develop the talent strategy needed to support our tremendous growth, and build a work environment where all employees can thrive and grow.
  3. Working closely with specialist central HR teams, as well as matrixed site and international HR colleagues, keep the right focus on assessing the HR needs in areas such as performance management, talent acquisition, career development, diversity and compensation/rewards.
  4. Function as a consultant and counselor to key leaders and their respective organizations; engage in strategic planning meetings to translate business needs into HR plans.
  5. Partner with the business on organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, and skills assessment and development.
  6. Review and analyze business metrics including data on retention and employee experience in order to recommend systemic improvements.
  7. Partner with the business to lead our Organization and Leadership Review, which focuses on succession planning, talent development and organizational health priorities.
  8. Provide compensation support including salary planning, approval of salary actions, and promotions.
  9. Partner with central HR Partner (AWS Builder Experience Team) organization to work with line managers and employees to address various employee relations issues, fairly representing all interests.
  10. Partner with the AWS talent acquisition team to build systemic and scalable recruiting programs to create a sustainable pipeline of talent.

A day in the life

Day to day this person will:

  1. Work with VP of Startup and executive leadership team to develop and implement organizational initiatives and solutions at scale.
  2. Define people goals that are based on business drivers and tied to strategic priorities of the business.
  3. Earn trust as a partner to the extended PXT leadership locally and regionally/globally.
  4. Partner with business leaders on organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, and skills assessment and development.
  5. Provide coaching to VP and leadership team.
  6. Review and analyze business metrics including data on retention and employee experience in order to recommend systemic improvements.
  7. Partner with the business to lead both annual and mid-year review processes which focus on performance management and talent development.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in an HR Generalist role, preferably in a business partner role in the tech industry.
• 5+ years’ experience working as a business partner, and driving organizational change initiatives and developing talent management plans for global organization teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; high quality document preparation, data visualization, and facilitation skills.
• Previous employee relations and talent assessment experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree in Human Resources or MBA.
• Previous experience leading in a matrix environment (ideally internationally).
• Demonstrated achievements in coaching, influencing and problem solving.
• Prior end to end senior HR leadership experience supporting a large (5K+), geographically dispersed organization that consists of entry level and senior executive customers.
• Strong business acumen and ability to work well across different functions in order to integrate HR and business strategies.
• Strong analytical skills, including the understanding of metrics to support plans and monitor performance.
