Job Description

Join the iconic Santa Monica Proper Hotel, where historic charm meets contemporary luxury in the heart of Santa Monica. As a seamless merger of historic retrofit and new construction, our 267-room boutique hotel showcases stunning interior design by international style icon Kelly Wearstler, tantalizing dining options by local culinary stars, a show-stopping rooftop lounge and swimming pool, and our newest chapter, wellness programming. We're seeking an experienced Wellness Director to lead our wellness offerings into their next phase of growth.

Position Overview

The Wellness Director will develop and implement comprehensive wellness programs that enhance guest experiences while generating new revenue streams. This leader will create distinctive wellness experiences that set our property apart in the luxury hospitality market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design innovative wellness and fitness programming for hotel guests, members and local clientele
  • Oversee and grow our wellness membership program
  • Develop plans for wellness revenue growth through programs, partnerships and events
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to drive new member acquisition and increase overall membership base
  • Create a roadmap for expanding our wellness amenities and facilities
  • Manage daily operations of the members lounge, gym, recovery room and class areas
  • Liaise with operations team to create efficiencies and constantly improve the guest experience
  • Develop our wellness hotel room program and retreat offerings
  • Oversee Wellness Manager and Senior Membership Manager
  • Create seasonal wellness programs and signature treatments
  • Build relationships with wellness brands and influencers for collaborations
  • Monitor financial performance and optimize revenue
  • Analyze membership trends and feedback to identify opportunities for improvement in offerings, pricing, and engagement
  • Develop marketing strategies to promote wellness offerings
  • Stay current with emerging wellness trends and practices
  • Suggest content and experts to promote wellness on our channels

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management, Business, or relevant field; advanced degree or wellness certifications preferred
  • 5+ years experience in wellness or fitness management, preferably in luxury hospitality, longevity and optimization
  • Proven success developing wellness programs that drive revenue
  • Experience managing membership programs and growth strategies
  • Ability to create and execute expansion plans for wellness facilities
  • Strong business acumen with budgeting and financial management skills
  • Excellent leadership abilities with team-building experience
  • Knowledge of current wellness trends and best practices
  • Outstanding communication skills for engaging with high-end clientele
  • Entrepreneurial mindset to identify new wellness opportunities
  • Hotel experience preferred
