Job Summary

This position is responsible for landscape or maintaining grounds of property using hand or power tools or equipment. Perform a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: weeding, trimming, and planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, and sprinkler repair during the growing season. Responsibilities also include maintaining the pool/spa and snow removal during the winter season.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Spring/Summer Season:

  1. Physically walk the properties on a frequent basis and removes litter, debris, cigarette butts and pet droppings from the grounds.
  2. Care for established lawns by weeding, and trimming and edging around flower beds, walks, and walls.

  3. Report issues with the irrigation systems to Management.
  4. Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, planters. Free of debris, overgrowth, weeds.
  5. Dumpster areas. Transfers trash and other items left outside of dumpster into dumpster. Pick-up and sweep area.
  6. Assist in maintaining a safe environment by taking note of obstruction in breezeways, lights that need to be replaced, suspicious activities, and unusual smells or sounds.
  7. Read and abide by all company policies and procedures and community policies applicable to your specific property.

Fall/Winter Season:

  1. Physically walk the properties on a frequent basis and remove litter, debris, cigarette butts and pet droppings from the grounds
  2. Assist with fall cleanup keeping walking areas clear of leaves and debris providing a safe passage

Snow removal - expectation is to have clear path for residents to safely walk and drive through the property.

  1. To include:
    1. Snow to be removed from walks,
    2. driveways, and
    3. parking lots supplementing snowplows moving piles, snow between vehicles.
    4. spread salt/sand or deicer in all areas residents may access.
  2. Dumpster areas. Transfers trash and other items left outside of dumpster into dumpster. Pick-up and sweep area.
  3. Assist in maintaining a safe environment by taking note of obstruction in breezeways, lights that need to be replaced, suspicious activities, and unusual smells or sounds.

On-call Duties:

  1. Attend to lock outs and minor after hour emergencies.
  2. Assist with minor maintenance needs as available.
  3. Adhere to the tenets of Catholic Social Teaching and Catholic Doctrine
  4. Perform as a team member to ensure that productivity outcome measures are achieved.
  5. Uses appropriate administrative, fiscal, physical, and technical safeguards to ensure theconfidentiality,integrity, and security of CCEW client protected health information (PHI), per regulations outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
  6. As a mandated reporter, follow all procedures outlined in agency policies and procedures to report to the proper agency when there is suspicion and/or confirmation that a child or adult has been a victim of abuse or neglect.
  7. Ensures regulatory COA and Catholic Charities policy compliance on each property.
  8. Perform related functions necessary to support the mission and core values of Catholic Charities.

Job Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the minimum qualifications listed below. These qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform this job.

Education/Experience: to perform this job successfully, an individual must have
a High School Diploma or a General Education Degree. Ability to use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge and brush trimmers, and axes. Demonstrated experience performing janitorial duties.

Certificates/Licenses : To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a Drivers License and the ability to drive for work use. Must successfully pass background check as applicable to position. Pool certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.

Physical Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to:

  • Regularly stand, climb, walk, hear/listen, talk
  • Frequently lift up to 50-100 pounds, pull/push, carry, grasp, reach, stoop, kneel
  • Occasionally sit, crawl
  • Clearly see 20+ feet, with or without corrective lenses, ability to focus

While performing the essential duties/responsibilities of this job, the employee will be:
