Martinsville FBC is located in Martinsville, IL. It is 30 miles E of Effingham, IL, 31 miles W of Terre Haute, IN, and 35 miles N of Robinson, IL. We are located along Interstate 70 and the town has a population of 1100. We have an elementary school and local high school.
Our church will celebrate its 146th anniversary in October. In the past, we ran 2 full services on Sunday mornings, as well as men’s, women’s, youth and children’s programs. We started a new building at our current location in 2008 and moved in during homecoming October 2009. We paid off our 20 year note in 8 years.
We are now running an average of 60 for Sunday morning worship and 30 for Sunday school. Last fall we started a kid’s church on Sunday’s evenings. We are running a bus to pick up 11 kids and the program had 30 kids (4 yrs-6th grade) and 10 adults. We also have preaching on Sunday evenings and have been averaging 15. On Wednesday evenings we average 25.
We are praying for God to give us a burden for the lost and to send us a pastor that will equip and lead us to become a beacon in our community, as we reach out in love and share the Gospel of Christ to our neighbors that are perishing. We are known as a giving church through our benevolence and food pantry. We are a very accepting church.
