THE OPPORTUNITY

The Creative Director will lead the overall visual and brand creative direction for Deseret Book Company across digital, retail, eCommerce,mobile apps,and marketing experiences. This role is critical in shaping the creative expression of our brand across all consumer touchpoints, ensuring it is consistent, compelling, andmission-aligned. This individual will oversee a team of talented designers,creatives, and copy writersto drive innovatedapproachesin how we communicate with our customers through visual storytelling,in-storeand onlinedisplaysand merchandising,advertising, and digital content. The Creative Director will work closely with Marketing, Product Development, and Executive Leadership to bring ideas to life andensure that every design reflects the mission, culture, and aesthetic standards of Deseret BookCompany. Successful candidates willhave an understanding ofthe needs and culture of members ofThe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Thispersonwill needtohave the ability to create and execute creative and strategic plans, collaborate well with others, and give and receive focused feedback.They willleverageinsights onour communities to drive strategies and plans that pull consumers into our experiences whetherit’sour website,digitalchannelsor brick-and-mortar stores.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

40% Brand Creative Leadership & Strategy: Provide creative vision, direction, and execution across all brand platforms and consumer touchpoints to ensure alignment with Deseret Book’s mission and values. This includes: Develop andmaintainbrand identity and design standards to ensure visual consistency across print, digital,andretail. Lead creative concept development for major marketing campaigns, seasonal promotions, product launches, and special projects. Partner with product, marketing, retail, and executive teams to develop creative strategies that elevate storytelling and deepen customer engagement. Oversee the creation of original content including photography, illustration, and video that inspires and resonates with our communities. Maintain a deep understanding of market trends,consumerbehavior, and visual culture within Latter-day Saint and broader faith-based communities. 40% Team Leadership & Collaboration: Manage and inspire a high-performing creative team while fostering cross-functional collaboration. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of graphic designers, art directors, copywriters, and freelancers. Provide clear and constructive feedback to ensure creative excellence and team growth. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop creative briefs and translate businessobjectivesinto compelling creative executions. Champion a culture of innovation, curiosity, and collaboration within the creative team and broader company. Oversee workflows, timelines, and prioritization of creative projects to meet business goals and deadlines. 20% Execution & Quality Control: Ensure high-quality design output and execution across all media. Review and approve all major design and branding deliverables to ensure alignment with Deseret Book’s standards. Set andmaintainaccountability for deadlines, quality, and cost-effectiveness of creative work. Build andmaintainrelationships with outside creative vendors and freelancers as needed. Evaluate creative tools and processes for efficiency and effectiveness, recommending improvements as needed.

REQUIRED SKILLS& QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in design, visual arts, marketing, communications, or related field; advanced degree preferred. 10+ years of creative leadership experience, including at least5years in a senior creative or art director role. Strong portfolioshowcasingcreative excellence across brand, marketing, retail, and digital channels. Deep understanding of visual storytelling, brand identity development, and customer-centered design. Excellent leadership, mentoring, and communication skills. Experience managing creative teams and working cross-functionally in a collaborative environment. Expertproficiencyin Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and familiarity with motion design, photography, or video editing is a plus. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with and sensitivity to the needs, values, and culture of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
